IGNOU Grade Card 2026: How to Check, Status, Incomplete Meaning & Download
How to check IGNOU grade card online, what 'Incomplete' means, when IGNOU updates grade cards after TEE, and how to calculate your percentage from grade card marks.
The IGNOU grade card is your official academic record showing marks for every course — both assignments and Term-End Exams. After each TEE, students eagerly check their grade card to see if their results have been uploaded. This guide covers how to check your IGNOU grade card online, what different status indicators mean, when to expect updates, and how to calculate your final percentage from grade card marks.
How to Check IGNOU Grade Card Online
You can check your IGNOU TEE grade card using our Grade Card Viewer, which fetches data directly from the official IGNOU portal. Here's how:
- Visit the IGNOU Grade Card page
- Select your programme code from the dropdown (BAG, BCA, MEG, MBA, etc.)
- Enter your 9 or 10-digit enrollment number
- Click "Check Grade Card" to fetch your results
You can also check directly on the official IGNOU portal at gradecard.ignou.ac.in.
When Does IGNOU Update the Grade Card?
IGNOU updates grade cards in phases after each Term-End Examination. The typical timeline is:
- June TEE: Grade cards start updating from August, with most results by September–October
- December TEE: Grade cards start updating from February, with most results by March–April
Results are uploaded course by course — not all at once. Some of your courses may appear weeks before others. This is normal and doesn't mean there's an error.
What Does 'Incomplete' Mean on IGNOU Grade Card?
If your grade card shows "Incomplete" for a course, it means one or more components are missing:
- Assignment marks not submitted: Your study centre hasn't uploaded your assignment marks yet. Contact them to verify.
- TEE result pending: Your exam answer sheet hasn't been evaluated yet. Wait for the next update cycle.
- Both missing: Either you didn't submit the assignment or didn't appear for the exam.
Use our assignment status checker to verify if your assignment marks have been uploaded separately.
IGNOU Grade Card vs Result: What's the Difference?
The result tells you whether you passed or failed a course — it's a simple pass/fail status. The grade card shows your detailed marks: assignment marks, TEE marks, and the final letter grade for every course in your programme. The grade card is the comprehensive document; the result is a summary.
How to Calculate Percentage from IGNOU Grade Card
IGNOU uses a 30/70 formula to compute your final percentage for each course:
Final = (Assignment Marks × 0.30) + (TEE Marks × 0.70)
For your overall programme percentage, IGNOU averages the final percentages across all courses. Use our GPA & Percentage Calculator to compute this instantly — enter your assignment and TEE marks and get your final percentage, letter grade, and pass/fail status.
IGNOU Grading System
